Description
Better Health for Mothers and Babies Webinar Series
AHA’s Better Health for Mothers and Babies Initiative’s approach to improving maternal and infant outcomes is guided by four core principles: examine quality and outcomes data to guide strategy; consider the causes of disparities in health outcomes; involve patients and community in their own care; and engage the workforce. This webinar series will showcase stories of how hospitals and health care organizations are putting each principle into action to improve outcomes for moms and their babies.
Webinar 4: Engage the workforce
Doulas, nurse midwives and community health workers all contribute to improving pregnancy outcomes. Integrating these roles into interdisciplinary maternal care teams can lead to reduced inpatient stays and c-section deliveries, increased breastfeeding rates and augmented maternal mental health support. Beyond the traditional doctor and nurse medical team, these health care professionals contribute by bringing expertise and skills that touch different facets of maternal care.
Join this webinar to examine the benefits of interdisciplinary maternal care teams and how hospitals and health care systems can leverage the unique skills and expertise of multiple health care professionals to provide high-quality, personalized maternal care. Additionally, learn how interdisciplinary maternal care teams can leverage models such as TeamBirth to work efficiently together and improve outcomes.
