ECRI Institute to Continue Providing National Guideline Clearinghouse

ECRI Institute plans to continue providing the National Guideline Clearinghouse to the health care community this fall. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality this week shut down the clearinghouse, which provided online access to evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, because funding to support the resource expired. AHA yesterday urged the agency to reconsider the decision, calling the clearinghouse “a valuable resource to clinicians and health care organizations in the United States and across the world for two decades.” ECRI, which previously maintained the clearinghouse through a contract with AHRQ, said the new website will initially include its guideline summaries with additional features to come.
