CMS releases Medicare Advantage and Part D premiums, deductibles for 2022

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services yesterday released premium and cost-sharing information for Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription drug plans for the 2022 calendar year.

According to CMS, the average monthly premium for MA plans will fall by $2.22 to $19, while the average monthly premium for a basic Medicare Part D prescription drug plan will increase by $1.53 to $33.

Over 2,100 MA and Part D prescription drug plans will offer insulin for a monthly copay of $35 or less under the new Part D Senior Savings Model in 2022; and over 1,000 MA plans will participate in the Value-Based Insurance Design Model, which offers supplemental benefits and incentives to improve health and address social needs, the agency said.

Open enrollment for MA and Part D begins Oct. 15.
