Newborn baby being examined at home; Telling the Hospital Story: Nemours Children’s Health redefines pediatric care with at-home model

When a child has a medical need, they often aren’t sick enough to go into the hospital, they but still need more care than most families can offer at home. In June 2025, Nemours Children’s Health in Orlando, Fla. addressed exactly that situation with the launch of Advanced Care at Home

Advanced Care at Home is the nation’s first pediatric at-home care program designed by a freestanding children’s hospital. Since its inception, more than 120 patients have enrolled. In exchange, kids have avoided 27 inpatient readmissions and 91 emergency department visits and spent 177 days at home that otherwise would have been spent in a hospital. Families receive personalized care bolstered by the latest technologies and 24/7 clinical access. The program expanded to Nemours Children’s Health Delaware at the end of 2025.

"Advanced Care at Home is an extension of our Whole Child Health approach — care designed to support children where they live, learn, and grow," said R. Lawrence Moss, M.D., president and CEO of Nemours Children's Health. "This is an entirely new model of care that brings children home, keeps families together, and lets the entire family be comfortable in their own space."
