Telling the Hospital Story: Ochsner Heath implements AI-powered technology to support AFib treatment - stock image of a heart with circuitry overlaid

Ochsner Health is the first health care provider in Louisiana to offer artificial intelligence (AI)-powered technology to support treatment for atrial fibrillation (AFib), a condition affecting more than 6.1 million Americans. The John Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute is using an advanced tool that provides real-time analysis of 3D heart maps during catheter ablation procedures to help physicians more precisely identify AFib drivers.

Clinical leaders at Ochsner emphasize that AFib varies significantly from patient to patient, often making treatment strategies complex and increasing the likelihood of repeat procedures. “Ochsner is committed to delivering the highest standard of care for AFib treatment,” said Michael Bernard, M.D., section head of electrophysiology at Ochsner Health. “Because this condition can present differently in patients, treatment options may vary. We are confident that Volta’s AI companion will redefine what’s possible, empowering our physicians with innovative support to navigate these complex procedures and get better results for our patients.”

The technology helps identify abnormal electrical patterns more effectively, supporting physicians as they tailor treatment to individual patients and work toward reducing the need for subsequent interventions.
